Since 2020 Karel leads the marketing and communication department of Corona Direct Insurance. Where he has taken on the challenge to help transform the direct insurer into a digital front runner in Belgium.
Karel started his career in 2001 as a consultant. In 2005 he joined Philips’ corporate spin-off iRex Technologies, where he was part of the marketing team that launched the iRex e-reader in The Netherlands and later globally. In 2011 he took on the role of product marketing manager at the Brussels-based start-up: Yento, a corporate venture between Corelio, Sanoma (now Mediahuis) and Bisnode. Two years later he joined Belgium’s Golden Pages as Head of Go-to-market. He was part of the senior management team and responsible for the revenue growth from newly developed digital platforms and services. In 2017 Karel joined the founding team of the fintech startup Mobly. As CMO he helped scale the newly founded corporate venture into a mobility player in Belgium. With an extensive professional experience in marketing and communication it is his goal to help organizations with the challenges of building, launching, and growing new digital business.
